So here it is.
My first Destiel fanart.
So have a little bit of fluff to lighten the fandom drama right now!
Naomi has been a fishy character from the start, and I don’t believe that she’s an angel.
None of the other angels thought it was possible to rescue Castiel from Purgatory (Samandriel sure didn’t) and Purgatory is a very hard place to reach to. And suddenly Castiel is out? I don’t think the angels have that sort of power to cross into Purgatory like that, or else Raphael wouldn’t have been battling against Castiel if it was.
I think Naomi is one of the sisters of Fate. Not only is she very interested in controlling others, but she’s also ruling Heaven from what’s been shown. And it makes sense for the sisters to have taken over Heaven once it started to fall apart. They used to work for Heaven, writing the story of the Apocalypse, why wouldn’t they take over Heaven when there was no one to lead it?
They certainly do have the power to.
Wow okay.. This is a pretty awesome theory. Let me just babble here for a bit because I get excited about Greco-Roman deities.
If I remember correctly the three sisters of Fate, or Moirai, are Atropos (who we met in 6x17 My Heart Will Go On, pictured above), Clotho and Lachesis.
If any of you guys has watched Disney’s Hercules you may remember these lovely ladies:
These are The Fates or The Moirai. Even though they were never named in the movie, the one in the middle is the first sister, Atropos. According to greco-roman mythology/lore, she is the one that holds her ‘abhorred scissors’ to cut the thread of a human life when it is his/her time to die.
The second sister, Lachesis, was responsible for measuring the length of the thread of life i.e. how long a person or a god was allowed to live.
The third sister, Clotho was “responsible for spinning the thread of human life. She also made major decisions, such as when a person was born, thus in effect controlling people’s lives. This power enabled her not only to choose who was born, but also to decide when gods or mortals were to be saved or put to death.”
Let me relate this to the SPN universe.
In dealing with death and the afterlife in the canon SPN mythos, we have:
- The Fates (Atropos, Clotho and Lachesis)
- The Reapers
- Death (Greek mythos equivalent Thanatos).
Death seems to be above God or equal to him, saying: “As old as God. Maybe older. Neither of us can remember anymore. Life, death, chicken, egg. Regardless — at the end, I’ll reap him, too.”
The Fates, on the other hand, seem to be below God, Atropos saying: “I had a job. God gave me a job. We all had a script.”
So, what if Naomi is Clotho? Looking at the above quote I’ve bolded, it would certainly make sense that she would be a goddess of Fate, given that Naomi was able to save Castiel from Purgatory.. I also assume realms and dimensions mean nothing to someone with her power. Also, what if she was the one who saved Castiel all those times he died before on God’s orders?
SO assuming that Naomi is in fact Clotho, what if she is still following God’s orders? What if he left and she is now rebelling and taking over? What if this is some form of revenge on Castiel for him messing up God’s plan and messing with Clotho’s sister, Atropos? What if Metatron is angry with God for leaving and is now taking his place and ordering The Fates around?
